Waiting For - The Hexen
album
called “The Hexen”. The album is produced by Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) and
mastered by Maor Appelbaum (who also mastered Faith No More, Sepultura,…) Quite
“ringing” names if you ask me. Let’s see if we get blown away by this…
The band play a kind of Neo-metal fusion. The music is a mix of the members' taste in music and I can hear influences from bands like Faith No More, Biohazard, Coal Chamber,… early Millennium metal I would call it.
The Cd Contains 11 tracks lasting 34 minutes. Sadly there are no lyrics in the booklet so you don’t get to figure out what the songs are about. Clean vocals switch with guttural vocals and the songs have a “swung” to them. I feel the music is quite good but I’m not convinced vocalwise… A times they lack power. On the other hand I can hear definite Mike Patton influences in Dan’s vocals that remind me of the “King For A day, Fool For A Lifetime” album from FNM.
I’ve been listening to this album a couple of times now and on different stereos (yes I do that). I get carried away by it – you know, steeringwheeldrumming and uncontrolled headbanging - but at the same time am not blown away. Definite good work for a debut that is for sure! I’m curious for the next stuff this band will release. Guess we'll be Waiting For…this band evolution which I’m sure will be good.
