Signs of Cain - Stinkbek
Signs of Cains hails from Tongeren and released this 7 track album last year (2014). The album spans about 44 minutes and songs don't run under 4 minutes. You could say that SOC plays technical Death metal, but there is just a tad more to it. For instance they don't have 2 guitar players but 1 guitarist and a keyboard player and that gives the music a distinctive sound.
Lyrics are quite personal and if you take the time to read them you will find your own thoughts in them. Something I really like. You can relate with what the singer is saying. One song deserves a special mention. the 2nd track on the album Quid pro Quo is a real stomper.
If the album would have had a professional production, it is a self produced album, I'm sure it could have more impact. The distinctive sound of the keyboard is very cool and gives it an extra edge but also gives it a "this was recorded in a bucket" kinda sound.
Stefan, the singer of SOC told me that the band is on hold for now due to the autoimmune disease of their keyboardplayer Jacques. We here at BMU wish to express our sympathies and hope he gets better soon!
