GUILTY AS CHARGED - LEAP OF FAITH
Leap of faith is the debut album of the west Flemish band Guilty as charged. And I must admit they surprised me a bit with this record
On leap of faith these 4 dudes bring 8 well written songs in a modern thrash variant. In places this record even reminded me of the mid 90's output of bands like Metallica and Testament. Thrash with a bit more melody, cleanly produced and well written. Even the voice of singer Jan De Vuyssere reminds me of James Hetfield at times.
I must also draw some attention to the more melodic solo's on here. In these solo's they betray some love for traditional heavy metal as well. But if you think that this is just a clone of the aforementioned bands, you would be wrong. Guilty as charged does add some personal modern touches to their music. I think that the song Down is the best example of this. It starts off with a good solo, jumps into some nice thrash riffing and James Hetfield style singing, but later on delivers some modern sounding, and very well executed, clean sung chorus.
The bottom-line here is that if you have any love for good thrash metal executed by a talented band with a good singer, then you should try to get this record.
