Everyone Dies Alone - The Arcane Army + Piece
Everyone Dies Alone hails from Antwerp and gave us their 2 Cd’s at the gig in
Geel.
These 2 Cd’s are somewhat older. Piece dates from last year and The Arcane Army goes back to 2010.
First: The Arcane Army has a sort of “Aliens became Gods in human minds”-theme, something I think might be a nice philosophical topic while hanging by the bar with some mates. Lyrical wise this is highly technical stuff and a dictionary at hand is a must. Then the music: EDA plays Deathcor/TechDeath, and bands that come to mind are Messuggah, Thy Art Is Murder,…
Extreme technical riffin’ and matching drumpatterns is the first trademark this band offers.
2nd trademark is the combination of grunts, screams & pigsquealing. And that last thing is what kinda ruins it. The vocals are for the most part incomprehensible, even with the lyrics at hand it is hard to follow what is being sung. A working point for the band here.
Nevertheless this is good stuff and so I was curious what the following album would bring considering the band had 4 years in between and plenty of time to grow.
And so they did, you can definitely hear the progression the band has made on this album.
Without disconnecting from their roots, - there is still a sci-fi theme going on - this album is somewhat more open. The riffs are still technical but somewhat more slick and vocal wise there has been progression too although it is still not my cup of tea. But that is personal taste of course!
Song wise this is a very good album, everything is well thought through. And a special mention for the songs Erebus (with some clean vocals) and Prometheus is due for I think these are the best songs on the album.
