Deconsecrate - Nothing Is Sacred
There ’s a
lot to say about the first album of Deconsecrate. The band that operates from
Ieper/Zwevegem has been heavily influenced by the heydays of the H8000 scene,
which is no surprise since the band is said to be the successor of Retaliate and consist of some old Omerta, First Alliance and Crossed The Line members.
Jon Gallagher (Dying Fetus) and Damien Moyal (Morning Again) are also players
in this album. Above all, the mastering took
place in Audiosiege!
The framework therefore is said to be professional, but what’s to say about the actual music these gentlemen perform? The music could be no more professional! The best of two worlds obviously, as it is acknowledged by its followers. The beatdown metal (could not think of a better name) looks to come from the New York streets, where the masters of SWORN ENEMY ruled. Their music sounds threatening, aggressive but still melodic, is solid as a rock and displays the talent of these gentlemen.
So it is still possible to make good record, pure metal with a good dash of hardcore. The gentlemen of Deconsecrate are on the Ieperfest 2015-bill and they deserve it! Ieperfest has always been one of Belgium’s largest festivals for metal and hardcore fans. Deconsecrate may be considered a boost for a region that sporadically shows the class of back in the days.
