Civilian - The Second
Civilian releases it's second album this Friday (12 December). Civilian want to break a worldrecord with this album by releasing the shortest song ever recorded... shorter than Napalm Death's "You Suffer". So keep your eye on the Guinness book of records next year!
All foolishness aside, lets take a look at the album itself. It has 12 songs lasting about 36 minutes and comes in a jewel case with some cartoonesk artwork. There isn't much info inside the booklet apart from some photos and I like to read lyrics and such, so that is somewhat disappointing. Otherwise it's quite professional so thumbs up for that.
But musicwise this is a very good album. it's a good mix of Hard Rock, Metal & Heavy Groovy Rock. I can hear several influences, bands like Dream Theater, SoundGarden, Anthrax & QOTSA come to mind.
I have some favorites on this album. I like "Wrong side Of The Road" & "Love In The Moshpit" which has a very "caught in a mosh" feel about it. Civilian is a band that I would put on various (biker)festivals and "brown pubs" cuz I feel that they are a great talented and entertaining band.
So conclusion: A very good, diverse album with an attempt to break a world record.
