Leave Scars - Chains Of Redemption
Leave Scars is an old school thrash band that started in 2005 and had to face the lineup changes mostly every band goes through in it's early years. But through perseverance Leave Scars is building quite the name for themselves. They played GMM and several other festivals, supported Rotting Christ,...
So now about 10 years later their first full album is released through Spinal Records. Actually it came out last Friday, March 20th!
We get 11 songs in 41 minutes, all of them at a pounding pace apart for Redemption which is a acoustic intermezzo. I feel the sound/music of Leave Scars is quite original, and although it's still old school thrash, I can't really pinpoint a band to compare them with and that is a very good thing! The Lyrics handle things from Isis, Lying, personal stuff and the vocals are quite powerful but I think their is still some work on the somewhat "cleaner" vocals. Not that they sound terrible or anything, but I feel they could have something more...it sounds somewhat "flat". Let's just blame the mix for this....
So, conclusion?
A band with a very decent live-reputation delivers us the fruit from their hard work and throws down an album from concrete & steel while breaking free from the chains that binds them to Old School Thrash.
